REVIEW: Shape Up, Construction Truck

Shape Up, Construction Trucks
Written & Photographed by Victoria Allenby
Pajama Press
Ages: 0-3

If you have a kid who likes their vehicles, this book will be a sure fire hit! Allenby takes great high resolution photographs of various construction vehicles and turns them into a fantastic geometry lesson. Each vehicle is paired with cute, concise, repetitive rhymes, and a clear shape to indicate what the child is supposed to look for.

Dump truck /Dump truck /Coming through! /I spy a triangle— /How about you?”

The shape is also outlined in a bold color on the image of the vehicle, allowing little fingers to trace and learn as well. With the youngest readers, an adult will want to hold the child’s fingers and trace it with them.

The book comes with a handy list of great activities to engage young learners.
