How to Potty Train a Dinosaur
Author & Illustrator: Alycia Pace
Ages: 2 to 5 years old
The story follows two kids with a pet dinosaur who are working together to potty train him.
Chances are, if you have ever spent time with a child–in any capacity–the topic of dinosaurs has made an appearance. What is it about dinosaurs that makes children so fascinated? For whatever reason, kids are mesmerized by dinosaurs. It makes no difference if the child is a boy or a girl, the dinosaur theme is usually a winner.
Now let’s talk about the potty. Yes! I said the potty. This just happens to be another winning topic among kids–one that is sure to elicit endless giggles and even outright laughter until you cry adventures. That is of course, if the potty is part of a story. That can all change rather dramatically if there is actual potty training going on.
Pace gives us the perfect combination of dinosaurs and potties in this adorable board book; ideal for making potty training something less than stressful for everyone involved. The story follows two kids with a pet dinosaur who are working together to potty train him.
Of course, as you read, the children go through all the necessary steps to achieve success in their potty training task. They find the right size potty, show their dinosaur how and when to use it, help him understand how to know when to go, and finally teach him about cleaning up (including hand washing) to complete the task.
Using clean, bright colored illustrations that are eye catching and helpful in the telling of this tale, Pace gives potty training parents a great tool for sharing what needs to be done to achieve success with the potty, even including a message about accidents being part of the process and absolutely okay.
Written for ages 2-5, this book is sure to be not only a fun read aloud, but also a teaching tool to help with one of the most basic yet sometimes difficult to teach lessons for any child.
