Everyone in the jungle plays an instrument, and together they make beautiful music. (Where is this jungle, and how do I join the band?) Everyone that is, except Edward. Edward tries out (almost) everything, but is happiest in the audience, until a happy coincidence teaches him, and the reader, that making music is for everyone!
As a former music teacher, I love the message here, but the illustrations are the real star. Bright and colorful and witty, little kids will love looking at the animals and which instruments they choose. (This book would make a decent addition to a Kinder music lesson plan about the orchestra!) I do think the publisher grade level recommendation off, and that this book will be most appreciated by the preschool set.
