OFF THE SHELF REVIEW: I can Code If/Then

A quick take on an interactive children’s book

In this “off the shelf” video review, Mr. Alex tells us all about I Can Code If/Then an interactive book for children ages 3 to 8.

Introduce your little computer scientist to the essential coding basics and turn their everyday world into an extraordinary learning adventure!

Written by an expert, I Can Code: IF/THEN uses simple text, colorful illustrations, and interactive flaps to help little ones discover the building blocks of coding all around them! As they follow along with an adorable story about cause and effect, they’ll explore fundamental concepts like conditions, rules, and logic―and have fun doing it.

Educators are saying every child needs to know the basics of coding―and this book will get them started as early as possible!

Vicky Fang is a product designer who invents things—like cars that talk to each other, robots you can build at home, and games you can play with your voice. She started writing to support the growing need for early coding education, particularly for girls and kids of color. Her debut books, INVENT-A-PET (Sterling picture book), and LAYLA & THE BOTS (Scholastic early chapter book series), are launching in Spring 2020 and feature courageous and innovative girls in STEM.

Outside of writing, she likes eating, binge-watching TV series, papercraft, crafting new anything, dancing, and playing with her kids. She lives with her husband, their two boys, and two pet death-feigning beetles in Mountain View, California.
