A Boy Like You is an exceptional book that illustrates the various qualities that a boy should possess; it emphasizes the importance of being hardworking, caring, respectful, affectionate, and strong-willed. It reveals that there is more to a boy than sports and a tough exterior. It shows a boy who cries when hurting, and who is gentle and nurturing when necessary. This is a beautifully written book, accompanied by amazing illustrations that promote diversity and inclusion throughout.
I absolutely loved this book, and truly believe that every young boy should have it in their personal library. It targets all the principles and standards that I want my own son to live by, and that I plan on instilling in him so he can grow up to be a considerate, diligent, and confident young man.
Although A Boy Like You targets older elementary-aged readers, parents of younger children can use the beautiful illustrations to discuss the message written throughout the book.
This book discusses the importance of being a good friend, caring for others, appreciating the people in our lives, and working hard to reach one’s dreams–all things that parents want to share with their children. This book is the perfect tool to help them do just that.
